My Favourite Point Horror Covers [can these make a comeback already]

This is the post that nearly didn’t get written, yesterday was my daughter’s first day of school, I had a full day of walking around town and locked myself out of my house. Finally got back in at 7pm and crawled into bed around 11 and actually slept, which is rare for me!

Luckily, I had already sorted out the covers for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, where I’m sharing my favourite Point Horror Covers. I was a 90s baby, and these books were my favourites, but they were so hard to find – they were out of print by the time I started reading them and there was no internet, so my entire collection was acquired via ritual scoutings of Charity Shops and newspaper adverts.

Here’s some of my favourites!

Which book series did you binge read as a kid? Goosebumps? Babysitters Club? Malory Towers? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Ooh, these all look so fun! I read tons of Fear Street but I’m not sure if I read any Point Horror, or if I did I don’t consciously remember the books being under that imprint — I only found out about it when reading a Point Horror Relaunch book, Anna Davies’ Identity Theft. Which was fine, but I suspect it does not hold a candle to the original line; I simply do not think you can recreate the true campy fun of of 90s teen horror paperbacks in today’s YA style. I mean, the poem on Trick or Treat’s cover alone, come on. I want to read all of these immediately.

My post this week is on largely-90s Scholastic books; you might enjoy it.

  2. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of these referred to as Point Horror, but I read so many R.L. Stine books in my childhood. I wish I could remember them all. Now I really want to search them out! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I’ve never heard of these Point Horror covers but I think I like them more than the Goosebumps ones I used to read (honestly can’t believe I ever read them tbh coz I’m The Ultimate Chickenโ„ข๏ธ)! ๐Ÿ˜… I used to also read Babysitters and Sweet Valley when I was younger! Definitely more my jam than horror lol glad you could post this list (and that you got some sleep)!

    1. Don’t mention chickens and Goosebumps in the same sentence ๐Ÿ˜ญ Point Horror I’m fine with but that Goosebumps book where they start turning into chickens STILL gives me nightmares. ๐Ÿ˜‚
